Job Summary: Under limited supervision, carries out procedures to ensure that all Geographic Solutions products and services meet minimum company standards and end user requirements. Oversees the Manual Quality Assurance Testing Team and makes sure that all software is thoroughly tested to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects. Oversees the documentation of all problems and works to resolve them; reports progress on problem resolution to Manual Group Lead. Devises improvements to current procedures and recommends quality improvements. Manages the daily workflow and distributes work to team members. Manages all client projects to meet goals and deadlines and strives to achieve maximum quality within time constraints of the project deadlines. Handles personnel issues and strives to keep the team stable and productive. Creates training schedules and manages the execution of the training for the team. Attends meetings as required. Participates in RFPs as required. Creates Quality Plans and Test Plans as required to satisfy client contracts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop Test Cases and Test Plans for the large software modules, and oversees the execution of these plans by other team members.
Participates in the creation of materials for RFPs for the Manual SQA Test Management Team as needed.
Assess functionality and be a knowledgeable resource of several Software applications for the team.
Mentor and develop Manual SQA Test Management Team.
Managing the testing effort of all software releases from the development department.
Managing the Manual SQA Team’s documenting and tracking of all software defects.
Evaluation and assignment of all trouble tickets to development team members.
Reviewing and assisting in the creation of software documentation in conjunction with the subject matter experts.
Recommendation and review of department policies and procedures related to testing procedures and implementation of software releases.
Depending on project size, may be required to be on multiple Team/Projects.
Manage day to day work flow of the Manual SQA Test Management Team.
Distribution of team reports daily.
Ability to manage team during deployment events on a weekly basis including nights, weekends and extended hours to assure a successful, stable product is delivered to the clients.
Responsible for day-to-day personnel oversight of team’s work-related efforts and needs, including the preparation of probationary and annual employee reviews, approval of paid time off, daily employee schedule considerations, and approval of base work schedule requests as needed.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Full understanding of the goals of the entire project (not just QA with regards to functionality being developed, delivery dates, quality requirements, available resources, and the relationship of the current project to other ongoing projects, and to the rest of the product line).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, which are used with team members and clients in the form of formal training, mentoring, and presentations.
Responsible for team understanding of Quality Methodology and process creation.
Work with Developers, BAs, DBAs and Project Managers on test projects.
Knowledge of TFS and Software Configuration Management promotion processes.
Experience utilizing T-SQL with Microsoft SQL Databases to develop scripts for use during testing backend data.
Experience testing Web Services and Interfaces.
For smaller projects, this position may be the most senior QA representative on the team. In this case, this person has “ownership” of the module from a QA standpoint.
Ability to meet goals and deadlines.
Prior experience in problem resolution.
Prior experience in leadership role.
Credentials and Experience:

Associate’s degree
7 years of Software testing experience
Prior experience in leading/managing QA Teams
Or, Equivalent combination of education and experience
Special Requirements:

Testing methodologies and theory
Basic knowledge of Automated testing techniques
Basic Microsoft SQL server knowledge
Windows Operating Systems knowledge
